Intern Amy talks about her year at Everyone
/ Posted By Amy Hinchliffe
I started my time at Everyone in June last summer as a design intern and continued during my final year at the Glasgow School of Art . It’s been a fantastic opportunity in which I have been able to see many great projects developed from start to finish. Every week I’m tackling something new, helping out with branding and identity projects while seeing how websites are developed to get the right function, look and feel. I get to experience the whole process from several design revisions right up to helping to test a website before it goes live.
I have always had a keen interest in identity and web design, specifically in how good design can have great impact on businesses. Luckily, Everyone is the perfect environment to learn from many skilled designs and coders who have great experience within the industry. Being able to experience how front and back end development works together has vastly increased my knowledge of web design. I could code a little before working at Everyone but now I have the ability to create fully responsive front end sites.
It has been the perfect internship, in a relaxed environment. The experience has challenged the way I see design and has demonstrated how commercial sites can both be practical and highly creative.
The past few months has grown my love for the industry and boosted my confidence. It has helped me to further understand where I want to be in the future, the type of work I would like to do and the environment I’d like to operate in.
