Keeping it in the family
/ Posted By Dav McKenzie
All this week, we've had the pleasure of hosting another work experience placement. This one is a little bit special as it is our Technical Director, Colin's fifteen year old daughter Erin in the hot seat. Erin's been working alongside Amy and our design team on a number of her own creative projects. I caught up with her earlier on to reflect on how her week has been and what it's like working alongside her old man!
In a few words could you sum up what you have learnt working with everyone this week?
I’ve learned how to use Photoshop mainly; I’ve designed some posters, made some business cards, designed a web page and even created my own GIF.
What skills will you take away with you and use?
I been learning about the way companies work and have enjoyed the environment – it’s much better than school as its more chilled out. I’ve also really enjoyed working independently and not having to jump in and out of classes.
What’s it been like working with your dad?
I think it settled my nerves a bit having a familiar face around. It’s been interesting seeing him working away – he’s a lot more serious around here!
What would you like to be doing in 5 years time?
I’d like to be at uni doing a course that interests me.
What do you want to do when you leave school?
I’ve no idea what I want to do. Being in the agency for a week has given me an idea of what it’d be like to work as a designer and it’s something I’ll think about in the future.
If you could be anyone for a day who would it be and why?
I’d be Sofia Richie – so I could be Justin Bieber’s girlfriend!!
What did you enjoy about working for the week in the heart of Glasgow Merchant City?
It’s been nice working in town because it’s busy, nice places to eat at lunch time – I’ve not missed school lunches.
Erin's been great fun to have in the studio and we've all been massively impressed at some of the work she's produced in such a short time. Maybe next time she can come back and code up a site for us?
